About Us

The City of Busselton, Western Australia has enjoyed a sister city association with the town of Sugito, Japan since 1996. This relationship is essentially cultural with people from both municipalities enjoying bi-ennial community exchanges, annual school exchanges and occasional specific interest exchanges, such as the traditional Japanese gardeners who established a Japanese garden for Busselton.

The Busselton and Sugito Sister Cities Association (BASSCA) is a volunteer organisation responsible for managing the sister city relationship between the City of Busselton and Town of Sugito, Japan.

BASSCA's responsibilities also cover a variety of other Sister City related activities including the management of the Japanese Friendship Garden and Sugito Gift Displays.

Membership of BASSCA is open to all residents of the City of Busselton and companies, associations or clubs with an interest in promoting the objectives of BASSCA.

Residents with Japanese language skills who are willing to volunteer their time to assist with visits from Sugito are always very appreciated by BASSCA.
