About Us

Brightstar Foundation Limited is a not-for-profit organisation based in Perth Western Australia. Our mission is to reduce the number of people who are homeless and in financial hardship, going without food and your basic everyday items.

Our new facility once complete and open will be located in Welshpool WA, this is to be the first of hopefully many purpose fitted buildings that will allow our team of volunteers address the needs of those whom are most at risk in our community.

Our main building office areas will house our crisis support staff and social workers, this area is located at the front of the building. We hope to be able to help people prepare themselves for work, seek for work and ultimately land a job that allows to become self-sufficient. We do this be showing those who may have forgotten how to interview, by providing help with a resume and even to search for jobs and make applications. Because with gainful employment your life begins to change, things become easier and more rewarding. This starts a cycle of positive thinking which only empowers you more and more towards achieving your goals.

But our real charitable work is done at the rear of our building, here we are fitting out our factor space and floor with supermarket shelves, freezers, cool rooms, fridges and a deli section. Your Community Grocery store with the ultimate twist. Imagine our idea that you will be able to fill your trolley push it to the checkout knowing you have everything you will need to stay healthy and nourished for the week. But then things get even better because once you’re ready to pay the bill the checkout clerk tells you thank you for support your community today. That comes to $30, a capped price donation is all you will be asked to pay. Providing you can meet the criteria to become a member (basic Centrelink status) you will now have this awesome shop where things don’t have prices because there is never going to be more than a $30 request.

But best of all if you’re really doing it tuff you can ask our volunteers and they will always help to donate even more where possible.

Most people in today’s economy and our nation suffering, we have such large number who identify as being homeless or without basic items required to live and even more who are suffering from extreme financial difficulty.

We hope to provide a solution where those who meet the required criteria are able to come and do their fortnights shopping in our facility and pay only $30 for the entire shop.

Obviously there would be conditions and stocks would be based on those donations we receive or from partnerships with other facilities offering similar services.

But the idea we are pushing forward with is one that is very well talked about but when it comes down to actually needing the help hard to find. So, we say let’s take off the cloak and daggers and offer the service direct to the public, based on a membership model and verification of hardship people would not need to feel any stigma associated with asking for help. They could just come down and do their shop and go through the motions only to get to the register and $30 thank you. not a cent more. Where there are extreme circumstances our volunteers could go so far as to just give the food package away.

we need you help just like we want to help those who are in need. As a board, we have been seeking funding from many sources and we have so far been told we have a great idea and that our applications will be given consideration. But we are at risk of losing our building even before we have managed to open the doors. We have contributed lots of hours and money ourselves so far to build the facility. and we continue to do so but it could all be gone if we can’t raise some funds.

Our ACNC registration is underway with PBI and DGR being carefully applied for with all the boxes ticked and a good cause so at this stage we are reaching out to the community in the hope that someone or many will like our idea and choose to help us as we intend on helping many.

Thanks in advance, we welcome one and all to come and join us down here and contribute in any way possible.
