About Us
CWA of WA is a long-standing women's organisation with branches in country and metropolitan areas of the state.
Our aim is to improve the well-being of all people, especially those in country areas by promoting courtesy, co-operation, community effort, ethical standards and the wise use of resources. The CWA serves to unite women and strengthening the local community through friendship, education, service and advocacy.
We hold regular monthly meetings, one on the 2nd Tuesday morning of the month at 10am at Melville Girl Guides Hall corner of Kitchener and Stock Road.,
and another on the 3rd Thursday evening at 6.30pm at the Fremantle Men's Shed on 70 Shepard Street, Beaconsfield (Behind the Bowling Club).
Members can attend either one or both of these meetings.
We also arrange social gatherings for 'Coffee & Chat', and craft activities to learn new skills, or to work on producing items for donations or for sale or just to get together with other members.
Amongst other things, our branch makes fiddle rugs for people with dementia, fiddle sleeves for children in hospital, and beanies for the homeless, and works to raise funds for various community organisations. We also organise for guest speakers on various topics. CWA is a place for all women, all ages (18 and over), all interests.
You don't have to be a country woman, or to be a knitter, or crocheter, or sew, or be good at cooking. If you would simply like to make new friends, or to get involved in making our community a better place, or to learn new crafts, or just get out of the house for a while, come along to one of our meetings and see if CWA might suit you.
