About Us

Epilepsy WA was founded in 1963 and provides a wide array of services to support the WA community, including, but not limited to: 

  • Support groups -  we have 4 metropolitan support groups that run from February to November located in Gosnells, Joondalup, Midland and Nedlands.
  • Information and support telephone line - our telephone line is open 9.30am-1.30pm Monday to Friday.
  • Compassionate Ear Listening Service - a qualified counselor with a lived experience of epilepsy volunteers her time on a Friday between 10am - 1pm to provide information, empathy and support to those in need.
  • Free information sheets and resources - these are available at any time through our website www.epilepsywa.asn.au 
  • Epilepsy Training - we provide training to the community in understanding epilepsy and the administration of emergency medication.  Our training courses are available face to face, online or via ZOOM.
  • Providing information to patients and their families through our free online and face to face seminar program and conference days
  • Providing pathways to other services and useful community resources
  • Community events and awareness raising 
  • Seizure Alert Device display and free seizure mat loan service for members
  • Promotion and implementation of the nationwide Epilepsy Smart Schools program in conjunction with the other state and territory organisations under the banner of Epilepsy Australia.

It is free to access our services and no referral is required. We are available to support anyone whose life has been touched by epilepsy.  You can become a member of Epilepsy WA which offers a number of benefits and enables us to continue in our vital work supporting the 26,000 West Australians living with epilepsy.  To become a member costs $25/year concession, $30/year individual or $50/year for corporate entities.
