About Us
The Royal Life Saving Society Australia is the leading aquatic and emergency care teaching organisation in Australia.he aims of the Society are to prevent the loss of life and promote safe participation in water related activities. These aims are pursued through educational programs in water safety, swimming, survival, lifesaving, lifeguarding, resuscitation, first aid and emergency care. There is an awards scheme, designed to encourage involvement in aquatic activities based on safe and responsible attitudes, knowledge and skills. Public awareness campaigns such as Keep Watch develop and distribute a wide range of support, resources. Services to the community include educational classes, lifeguard patrols and examiners for lifesaving awards, technical expertise, research and liaison. There is a Branch of the Society in each State and Territory and a National Secretariat based in Sydney. The management of the Society is a combination of Branches and a National Council. The Society is currently developing an instructors course for people who work with people who have disabilities, and to support people modify our awards to meet individual needs.
