About Us
The Attach drug and alcohol service provides a four to six month in-home counselling program for parents who have a drug or alcohol problem.
Parenting a child is challenging and this job becomes even harder when you are using alcohol and/or drugs. We recognise that problematic drug and alcohol use rarely occurs in isolation. Many substance using parents are also struggling to cope with problems such as mental illness, family violence, financial difficulties, social isolation and strained family relationships.
Attach supports parents to increase positive parenting skills, develop emotion management and coping skills, and build confidence to address drug and alcohol issues. We help parents identify high risk situations and to develop strategies to keep them and their children safe.
Who is Attach for?
Attach supports parents who have a drug or alcohol problem, and who have care or contact with children 0-8 years.
How can I get involved?
You can refer yourself or speak to us about referring someone you know. Referrals are also taken from alcohol and drug agencies, Department for Child Protection and Family Support, mental health services, Department of Corrective Services and other community organisations.
