buttonSoak up some funky village vibes in the chic leafy streets and bohemian laneways of Mount Hawthorn, one of Perth’s favourite weekend hangouts for eats, drinks, foodie markets and boutique browsing. From the busport in central Perth, you can take a 20-minute ride to the village hub, or a 10-minute drive by car, via Northbridge and Leederville. If you’re cycling it, the shortest route, along Charles Street and Scarborough Beach Road, is just under 20 minutes. The locals affectionately refer to Mount Hawthorn’s shady streets and laneways as their ‘living room’ and they’re home to some of Perth’s most talked-about coffee and brunch spots, restaurants, late-night small bars and lively weekend markets. Head for pretty little Beaux Lane to enjoy a multi-cultural melting pot of bites under the fairy lights. There are also some top browsing opportunities on offer in the boutiques, from on-trend accessories to artisanal baked goods. Take a stroll down Kalgoorlie Street, and you’ll find the sweetest memorial to the ANZACs who lost their lives in the tragic Gallipoli landing. ANZAC Cottage was built by the community in one day on February 12, 1916, as a home for a returned wounded soldier and his family. Be sure to check out the events calendar, headlined by some of Perth’s hottest local talent and, if you’re visiting in the summer months, don’t miss the Streets and Lanes Festival.
