Stockton, New South Wales

Stockton image

Stockton is a suburb of Newcastle that sits on a peninsula with the Hunter River to the south and the Pacific Ocean to the east. Stockton Beach is famous for its sand dunes that are part of the largest moving sand dune system in the southern hemisphere. Explore them by four-wheel drive or try sandboarding. The beach is 32 kilometres long with excellent swimming, surfing and fishing. Take the Shipwreck Walk out along the breakwall and see the wreck of the Adolphe. A passenger ferry connects Stockton to Newcastle seven days a week, it's only a five-minute journey across the harbour, please visit the Newcastle Transport website for timetable information. Children love the foreshore playground with a flying fox, skate park, variety of slides, swings and climbing equipment.
