Nimmitabel image

Nimmitabel is a small rural township on the Great Dividing Range, at 1070 metres. Settled in the 1850s, it was once known as Nimity Bell, a name said to mean the place where many waters start. You can explore the historic village including Geldmacher House and Mill and St Andrew's Catholic Church by taking a walk around town. There is a self-guided booklet available from Cooma Visitors Centre. Nimmitabel now host a very special event the first weekend in May - Steampunk at Altitude, not to be missed. 2020 will be its fourth year and the event is growing each year. In 1959 Nimmitabel was used by Warner Brothers as one of the locations for the filming of Jon Cleary's novel, The Sundowners.
