Stirling image

Just 18 kms south-east of Adelaide, the stylish garden village of Stirling has a flourishing food scene and fabulous shopping for fashion, plants, collectibles, jewellery, homewares, art and books at the unique shops and bustling monthly market. Settled in 1854, Stirling has some of the state's most beautiful homes. Initially the site of orchards and market gardens, the late 19th century saw the town become popular with Adelaide’s wealthy residents who built summer houses. The leafy main street is lined with cafés, restaurants and shops. Visit Red Cacao for chocolate delights and Friday night dessert bar. Culinary adventure also awaits at Sticky Rice Cooking School which has three luxury villas or stay in the architecturally designed Lucent Art House surrounded by original works of art, all available for purchase. The Stirling Market is held on the fourth Sunday of every month (third in December) with approximately 80 stalls. Stirling Laneways runs concurrently with the Stirling Market from September to May (fourth Sunday of each month and the third in December, no market in January) featuring food, entertainment and pop-up stalls in the laneways of this beautiful village. Nearby Woorabinda Lake is part of Woorabinda Bushland Reserve, a 34-hectare park with excellent walking trails. Steamroller Park is popular with families. The Stirling Hotel is a hip and historic pub with dining, accommodation, function spaces and patisserie.
