At just one kilometre long and pram/on-leash dog friendly, it’s an easy and accessible way to immerse yourself in the sounds of the rainforest and scents of the Myrtle Beech and Sassafras trees as you spy local fauna along the way. The Toolangi Sculpture Trail winds its way through a thoughtfully designed forest gallery, making for a perfect afternoon dog walk, horse ride or stroll with the kids. Wander through archways and willow cubby houses, and check out how the fascinating sculptures have fused with the forest over time. Located within the stunning Kinglake National Park lies Masons Falls, and from the nearby picnic area begin many short walking tracks – the first you’ll find is the Lyrebird Circuit. This easy 500 metre walk loops around and connects to the Masons Falls track, and if you’re lucky (and quiet) enough, you might just catch a glimpse of its namesake. But it’s not all bushwalks. For the spirit lovers, Kinglake Distillery’s single malt whiskey is made with unfiltered mountain spring water and local yeast – a true expression of the Kinglake terroir.
