A 6km bush walk through the Toolangi State Forest will lead you to the spectacular Wilhelmina Falls, a 75m high waterfall, or if you’re short on time, there’s a roadside viewing area on Murrindindi Road to view the falls from a distance. A visit to Yea would not be complete without taking a stroll through its naturally tranquil wetlands, and learning about the unique fauna and flora that call this unique ecosystem home. The Great Victorian Rail Trail runs through Yea and is suitable for all skill levels. Enjoy a picturesque and undulating 38km ride to Tallarook along the National Trust classified Trawool Valley, or the popular 16km Yea to Molesworth ride. The Yea Railway Community Market, held on the first Saturday of every month, is a great stop to peruse and meet the locals. Grab a bite at the Peppercorn Hotel or Marmalades, or pop out to the stylish and pet-friendly Sedona Estate for an artisan platter and a tasting of boutique, cool climate wines. A stone’s throw from Yea are the quiet hamlets of Glenburn, Murrindindi, Limestone, Highlands, Caveat, Strath Creek, Kerrisdale and Flowerdale – each offering their own unique experiences. Yea is 110km north-east of Melbourne or about one hour and forty-five minutes from Melbourne via the scenic Melba highway.
