The secluded beachside haven of Munglinup is a must-stay for those wishing to discover all that's great about the great outdoors on Western Australia's Great Southern coast. The lagoon invites you to swim and snorkel the reef. The river lures you with great fishing, boating and kayaking. The bushland reserves bring you nearer to untouched nature, where you'll find something in bloom all year round. Just three kilometres from the coast, mid-way between Ravensthorpe and Esperance on the South Coast Highway, Munglinup Beach is a one hour drive west from Esperance, or 50 minutes east from Ravensthorpe. You'll need to allow at least seven hours if you're hitting the road south-east from Perth, or you can hop on a one and a half hour flight from Perth airport to Esperance and hire your wheels when you land. The clear turquoise waters of Munglinup Beach lagoon are protected by a reef, allowing all the family to enjoy a swim, snorkel or simply relax on the white sand. Outside this natural swimming pool, surfers will also find some good breaks. Nearby, the Oldfield Estuary beckons you to take to the water in a boat, kayak or canoe, or follow the trails through pristine natural bushland to the beach. These trails are also a great way to view native birds and wildlife, as well as the region's wildflower wonders, which are at their best between August and November. Venture eight kilometres to the east of town and you'll find creativity in the most unexpected place - an art and craft gallery situated on a farming property with its own coffee shop. For your Munglinup stay, choose from a family-friendly motel, lodge and beach caravan park, or a budget-friendly camping ground.
