A Message from the Group Helpers….

Welcome to your ABA bulletin for the Mackay Group.
At our meetings, we aim to provide you with mother-to-mother support and accurate information on breastfeeding so that you are then empowered to make decisions that are best for you and your family. You'll have the opportunity to hear what other mums did in similar situations and what worked and didn't work for them.

Unfortunately, there are many myths about breastfeeding, and sadly, many people take on board - and pass on - information that is incorrect, contradictory or inconsistent. That's why it's important that mothers have access to the accurate information and support that is provided by ABA groups.

At most meetings we discuss a specific breastfeeding or parenting related topic. If you don't know anyone else, please come anyway or bring a friend. We don't mind if you come late or leave early, or if your baby cries, or if you're not feeling very witty or wonderful on the day. Even if the topic does not interest you, come along anyway for a cuppa and a chat! Older siblings are very welcome too. Many mothers find it beneficial to talk to other mothers who have had similar experiences. So even if the discussion topic is not relevant to you, why not come along and share your experience and knowledge with the rest of the group.

Coming along when you are pregnant is a great idea. Learning about breastfeeding before you have your baby is an advantage as this can give you confidence when starting to feed. Many expectant mothers find that our meetings are a source of valuable parenting information. By meeting our counsellors and other mums before your baby is born, you may find that you feel more comfortable coming back to our meetings after your baby is born.

Although we specify a starting time for our meetings, you are welcome at any time. Being mothers ourselves, we understand fully that it is not always possible to arrive somewhere at a specified time!

We look forward to seeing you soon.
