East Pilbara Council has an approximate area of 372,000 km².
It is comprised of the localities of Gibson Desert North, Newman, Nullagine, Pardoo and Telfer plus parts of Marble Bar.
It is surrounded by the councils of Ashburton, Broome, Central Desert Region, Derby-west Kimberley, Halls Creek, Meekatharra, Ngaanyatjarraku, Port Hedland and Wiluna.
It is comprised of parts of the Pilbara state electorate.
It is within the federal electorate of Durack.
