About Us

Funded by the Federal Department of Social Services as part of the Women’s Safety Package, Staying@Home works with women and their families after they have left an abusive relationship.  This service achieves positive outcomes for families, women and their children by working across sectors to improve the safety and wellbeing of children, advancing gender equality and reducing violence against women and their children.

DVCS staff will work with women to assist in the navigation of the current service system by providing case management and facilitating the integration of the support service network as well as undertake risk assessment, safety planning and security upgrades for women and children experiencing domestic and family violence so they can stay in their home, or a home of their choice, where it is safe to do so.

DVCS Staying@Home staff are highly skilled and experienced within the domestic and family violence sector who are able to work with women and children with complex needs who require a service system response and with women and children from diverse cultures, communities and circumstances.  Staff will develop new partnerships and build on existing partnerships with security service providers, the criminal justice system, the Women’s Legal Centre ACTLegal Aid ACT, the ACT Policing, the Real Estate Institute of Canberra and the Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health Service  to ensure clients receive a coordinated response.
