About Us
Our Southern Queensland Rural Health (SQRH), Allied Health and Training Hub in St George offers a student led Multidisciplinary clinic free to the public. SQRH currently provide a strength and balance program and a healthy lifestyles program delivered by allied health students, supervised by experienced health professionals. These programs aim to provide the community of St George with opportunities to live their healthiest lives.
STRENGTH AND BALANCE PROGRAM - 50+YEARS
Join our program to improve your strength, mobility and balance while building your confidence. Work with allied health professionals and students to learn new exercises and prevent falls in the future.
Program involves
- Fun group exercise sessions involving strength, balance and aerobic exercises.
- Group education sessions from allied health students covering a range of topics including:
- keeping safe in the home and community,
- eating for optimal strength,
- how to exercise at home and
- getting up after a fall.
HEALTHY LIFESTYLES PROGRAM
The Healthy Lifestyles Program is a group exercise and education program offered twice a week for the people of St George. The program will assist you to make healthy lifestyle choices, increase physical activity levels and improve your health well into the future.
Program Involves
- Work with allied health professionals and students from the areas of exercise physiology, nutrition and dietetics and physiotherapy to improve all areas of health in your life.
- Supervised exercise sessions with individually programmed strength and aerobic exercise programs.
- Group education sessions from allied health students covering a range of topics including
- Goal setting
- Creating healthy habits
- Moving for life
- Eating for health
- Overcoming blocks and dealing with setbacks
This program is for
The program is open to all adults who are currently not getting enough exercise; those who are overweight or are at risk of heart disease or diabetes and those people who already have a chronic disease (such as diabetes, high cholesterol, or high blood pressure).
