About Us

Silky Oaks is a Christian based community organisation which provides a range of services to children and families. These services include the following programs: * Alternative Family Care Program provides residential and support services to children and families. One Group Home provides accomodation and care for up to five children, from age 10 to 18 years. All children / young people cared for in the Residential Homes are referred to Silky Oaks by the Department of Child Safety. Contract Residential Care is the forum through which Silky Oaks provides off site short term emergency home accommodation for children in crises who are refereed by the Department of Child Safety. * The Family Care & Support Program offers temporary accommodation, counselling and support to families who are going through a time of crisis as a result of homelessness. It provides a range of practical and therapeutic services to assist families to integrate into the community with greater independence and personal resources. Families in this program can be referred to Silky Oaks by community agencies, hospitals, government departments or word of mouth. The Child Care Centre is community based and provides quality care on an individual developmental basis for each child.
