About Us

The Southern Metropolitan Regional Council (SMRC) is a statutory local government authority establishd in 1991 by local governments in the southern part of metropolitan Perth. It is one of the five regional local governments in Perth Metropolitan area. The SMRC is responsible for developing environmentally sustainable waste management solutions and climate change abatement for the communities of Cockburn, East Fremantle, Fremantle, Kwinana and Melville.
