About Us
No More Nyumree program takes a comprehensive approach, implementing a range of strategies to target the Wheatbelt community as a whole including:
Culturally appropriate program, empowering community through education of tobacco cessation
Developed a 12 week culturally appropriate smoking cessation and support service delivered to clients Wheatbelt wide
Providing training to Aboriginal Health workforce on Tobacco Cessation
Social marketing campaign including production of DVD
Health promotion activities including working with youth, men’s and women’s healthy lifestyle groups, Diabetes and other clinics & community events
Developing and distributing smoke free promotional resources and information including: Motivational materials (DVD, log book, Goanna artwork t-shirt)
Handouts for children (stickers, colouring pencils, wrist bands, tattoos, Frisbees)
Promotional resources (t-shirts, hat, drawstring bags, Quitline Aboriginal Liaison Team pamphlets)
To implement the No More Nyumree program, the Wheatbelt Aboriginal Health Service has developed a working relationship with the Wheatbelt Public Health Unit, Wheatbelt General Practice Network, Drug and Alcohol Office, Wheatbelt Community Drug Service Team, Wheatbelt Pharmacists, State Tackling Smoking Coordinator, Wheatbelt Aboriginal Mental Health Team, Avon Youth, Northam CLONTARF Academy and Quitline Aboriginal Liaison Team.
