Merredin Council has an approximate area of 3,300 km².
It is comprised of the localities of Burracoppin, Goomarin, Hines Hill, Korbel, Merredin, Muntadgin, Nangeenan, Nokaning, Norpa, Nukarni, South Burracoppin and Tandegin.
It is surrounded by the councils of Bruce Rock, Kellerberrin, Narembeen, Nungarin, Westonia and Yilgarn.
It is within the state electorate of Central Wheatbelt.
It is within the federal electorate of Durack.
