Queanbeyan South Public School

Aims to provide a comprehensive education for each student in a supportive and safe environment which promotes life long learning. Values close ties with the community and encourages strong parent involvement in education.

Caters for a diverse group of learners, with differing cultural backgrounds, through a flexible educational setting and a network of support for students with special needs.

Queanbeyan South is a modern diverse primary school currently serving about 450 students in a large city centre,close to Canberra. There are 38 cultural backgounds represented at the school.

The school has an outstanding Opportunity Classes that cater for gifted and talented students from schools in our district. This is balanced by a strong support network for students with learning difficulties including a multi-categorical class.

Early intervention needs are addressed through the Ngurranbai on-site transition to school program.The school is dedicated to equity and excellence in education and literacy and numeracy remain a major focus through the Priority Schools Program.

This is enhanced with state of the art technology throughout the school including video conferencing facilities,individual laptop and computer laboratories and every classroom is fitted with internet and interactive whiteboard technology. The school's purpose is 'Striving to Care and to Learn' which encourages all children to aspire to high expectations.

Teachers strive to develop happy, successful students who are encouraged to be risk takers whilst engaged in meaningful learning within a stimulating and secure environment.
