About Us

Miraa House is a not for profit organisation that provides a service for women living with an intellectual disability, where we teach everyday life skills in a caring and supportive environment. At Miraa House we offer women with an intellectual disability more opportunities by empowering them with the skills that they require to become more independent at home and in the community.

At Miraa House our team work alongside our women to teach them life skills that are required for everyday living including meal preparation, housekeeping, personal care, hygiene, health, exercise, safety and awareness skills.

We have a strong focus on community acceptance and have designed a community access program that provides our women with the opportunity to work on communication skills, social interaction, making informed decisions, coping strategies and acceptable behaviour. Through outings we demonstrate processes for accessing information, requesting assistance, making choices and networking.

Miraa House works with the ASDAN program which assists young women transitioning from Schools that also have the ASDAN program.

Our program is delivered through our dedicated and highly qualified team including a special education teacher, social worker and support workers.
