About Us

Established in 1893, the Townsville Golf Club is the oldest golf club in Queensland as well as being the fourth oldest golf club in Australia. The Club has been situated at three different localities in Townsville. From 1893 to 1921 at Kissing Point, 1921 to 1924 at Aitkenvale and our present Rosslea site since 18th April 1924.

In earlier times such clubs, including ours, were regarded as the somewhat exclusive domain of prominent legal, business, medical and service personnel.

It wasn't long before our membership of men and women was more reflective of all walks of Townsville life. Certainly, that is the case today.

Whether you are considering joining as a full or social member, the Townsville Golf Club has something for everyone. From the seasoned golfer on a low handicap, to those who like a day out with friends, The Townsville Golf Club is one of the most pleasant courses in North Queensland.

The first stage of the course redevelopment commenced in mid-2018 and was completed December 2022 which includes a brand new driving range.

The course is relatively flat with wide and fully reticulated fairways, very large undulating greens, hundred year old rain trees lining many of the fairways, and seasonal blooming, colourful trees.

While the Townsville Golf Club has a proud history and commitment to the traditions of the game, its excellent facilities are there for the current and future enjoyment of our wonderful sport.
