About Us

Occupational Therapy is founded on the core belief that engagement in meaningful roles and activities (occupations) is central to an individual’s sense of health and well-being.

The role of the occupational therapist is to facilitate patients to remediate or compensate for problems that negatively impact on their level of independence with activities of daily living (ADL) and ability to participate in valued occupational roles.

Within the context of the inpatient hospital setting, occupational therapists work to maximise patients’ independence and/or participation in the activities they need and want to perform in their daily lives. The goal is for a smooth, safe and timely discharge, with appropriate follow up and monitoring in the post-acute period. A seamless transition between inpatient, outpatient and community-based services is also an important goal.
