About Us

Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia improves the health and well-being of seriously ill children and their families through practical care programs. The geographic reach of our region extends from Torres Strait, south to Mackay and west to Mount Isa and Camooweal at the NT border, but we also help care for interstate and overseas families. Located at Townsville University Hospital, our hospital-adjacent House can accommodate over 100 people each night. The average length of stay for these families is 2-3 months. We assist with travel, clothing, food and other essentials that families need during a medical emergency. We also operate four other practical care programs in addition to our House: the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at the Townsville University Hospital and Mackay Base Hospital, the Family Retreat in Palm Cove, the Learning Program across North Queensland and the Northern Territory, and the RMHC Hospitality Cart in Mount Isa. Across these programs, we care for over 5,000 children annually.
