About Us
About us
Rising Youth Occupational Therapy provides Occupational Therapy and Support Work services to neurodiverse teens and young adults all over Australia.
We understand that teenage and young adult years come with new levels of responsibility and challenges. Our aim is to support young people to develop the skills they need to reach their goals and obtain a new level of independence in all areas of daily life. We love seeing young people overcoming barriers to participate in the activities that are meaningful to them.
What our OT’s do
Our OTs help young people achieve the goals that are important to them. Some of the goals that we may work on include.
-
Building positive relationships and managing social challenges
-
Regulating emotions such as anxiety and anger
-
Time management and organisational skills
-
Daily living skills such as meal preparation
-
Accessing public transport and road safety
-
Budgeting and money management
-
Touch typing and writing skills including brainstorming
-
Sensory regulation e.g managing sound sensitivity, movement seeking etc
-
Engaging in paid employment or study
-
Personal interests such as applying makeup, braiding hair and tying a tie
What our Support Workers do
Our Support Workers assist clients to engage in daily activities at home and in the community. A Support Work shift may consist of assisting with:
-
Self-care tasks such as dressing, teeth brushing and managing the morning routine
-
Domestic tasks such as preparing meals, organising personal spaces and laundry
-
Accessing the community to build social relationships, travel training, money handling and grocery shopping
-
Social and emotional support
-
Learning a new skill or engaging in desired leisure activities (we love knowing about your young person’s passions and matching them with support workers who share these passions)
Support workers provide a great opportunity for young people to build on the independence skills they are developing in therapy sessions. Our Support Workers service Melbourne’s Western, Northen and Inner Eastern Suburbs.
