Spearwood Public Library
City of Cockburn
About Us
Spearwood Library is located at the City of Cockburn Administration Centre, across the road from Phoenix Shopping Centre. There is a large carpark available for the public and wheelchair and pram access to the building.
There are study desks with powerpoints accessible, and casual reading areas for browsing the latest newspapers and magazines. There is a large children's area with toys and books available to borrow or just use in the library. The library offers free scanning to USB or email, and free wifi all day.
Becoming a library member: To join the library, any resident of Western Australia must bring proof of their WA address into the library, and they can become a member on the spot. A member is allowed to borrow 20 items for three weeks, and use the public internet terminals for up to three hours a day. Membership is always free; the only costs involved with the library are any charges incurred by late, lost, or damaged items, and by printing and photocopying. There is Wifi available to use for free.
Adult Events: The library holds regular events for adults at various times throughout the week that usually require a booking in advance. See the website for details about upcoming events.
Children's events: The library holds Storytime (for ages 2-5) each Tuesday and Friday at 10:30am, and Pram Jams (for ages 0-2) every second Thursday at 10am. Lego Club runs on the first Friday of each month from 3:30pm. None of these events require booking. See the website for details and dates.
During the school holidays, these regular programs are suspended and special school holiday programs are run, which require booking in advance.
Other services:
- A Justice of the Peace (JP) service is available every Monday from 10:00am to 12:30pm. This does not require a booking.
- An Italian-speaking JP who works with the Italian Consulate is available on Fridays from 10:00am to 12:00pm. This does not require a booking, but it is advisable to call the library before arriving as the service is sometimes unavailable.
