WxNW Neighbourhood Network

What is WxNW?

WxNW refers to the west by north west region of the Australian Capital Territory – pretty much the Belconneny part of of town.

WxNW, the project, refers to a process of reconnecting our neighbours and re-imagining our neighbourhood.

…what does that mean? …we're not exactly sure… And that’s OK.

The goals of WxNW are…

1. info sharing
…like sharing local knowledge, hidden treasures, or a desire to see more suburban yarn bombing…

2. connecting
…helping you find your people in this neighbourhood, linking community seekers, general life-enthusiasts, closet artists, bathtub musos, community garden types…

3. re-imagining
…an invitation to take a second look: where some might see a suburban wasteland, a WxNWer sees the dormant potential for cultural precinct; where some might see a kooky and possibly embarrassing sculpture, a WxNWer sees a defining landmark (still kooky, but in a good way).

Sounds wafty? Yeah. It is a bit.
Let’s just say that WxNW means well, and is enjoying the process of figuring itself out…

…it’s anything to counteract the atomisation and mainstreamification of suburban life…

…it’s anything that helps build a network encouraging people to realise that community, events, culture, arts is not something that happens elsewhere (in town) and is organised by other people – it happens here and is us…

…it’s anything that encourages people to be the change they want to see…

…it’s anything other than something that’s paid, endorsed, owned or approved…

In real life, right now WxNW seeks to connect people together via social media…
