About Us

Randwick Branch Library was opened in 1990 and in 2012 was renamed the Margaret Martin Library in honour of Margaret Martin, Council's first female mayor. Margaret Martin was first elected to Council in 1983, and re-elected three times in 1987, 1991 and 1995. She was elected mayor twice, in 1992, and again in 1996. Council decided to rename the library in her honour to recognise and promote the leadership and historic achievements of women in the Randwick community.
