About Us

Migration Support Programs - Red Cross provides help and support to refugees, people seeking asylum, people in immigration detention and others who are vulnerable as a result of migration.  Migration Support Programs include Humanitarian Settlement Program, assists refugees to establish themselves in their first 12-18 months in Wagga Wagga and Albury & other locations in NSW, WA and the ACT. Community Living Support, supporting people with a refugee background who are living with complex mental health issues; program is based in Wagga Wagga and Griffith.  Other programs available across NSW & Nationally include Find My Family: Restoring Family Links; Support of people in detention; Support for trafficked people; Supporting people who have been, or are at risk of being, forced into marriage; Support for people who have arrived in Australia seeking protection; Emergency relief support for people on temporary visas, financial relief to meet urgent needs during the COVID-19 pandemic; Emergency Relief, if you are an asylum seeker or a migrant who can’t access any other support and you are suffering financial hardship, Red Cross may be able to help you; Family and Domestic Violence Financial Assistance Program, support for people on temporary visas who are experiencing domestic and family violence.

Emergency Services, prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies.  Staff and volunteers work with individuals and communities to prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters and emergencies.  The Pillowcase Program helps children prepare for, cope with and respond to an emergency.  Emergency Services is also supporting bushfire affected communities in the Snowy Valley.

Telecross provides a free daily telephone call to support people to live in their own home.  Volunteers check on the wellbeing of people who are at risk of an accident or illness that may otherwise go unnoticed.  Telechat is a social call once a week for 30-60 minutes aimed at the same group of people as Telecross.

Learner Drive Mentor Program supports learner drivers to attain a license by allowing them use of a vehicle for on-road practice while a volunteer mentor supervises them and assists them to overcome significant barriers that may exist in preventing them in gaining a license.

Ngurra Community Centre, works with individuals service providers and community groups to provide a locally based, single point of access to information resources and services that are accessible to all members of the community.  Food rescue and support service referral.  Workshops and community group activities including health & wellbeing, sewing, cooking, art and craft, school holiday activities.
