About Us
Parent Confidence building is critical to strong parent-child relationships. Programs available provide information and child development understanding to increase parent confidence and aim to build strong parent/carer-child attachment. Village Community Services Inc. endeavours to provide a variety of programs for children, young people and families. Which includes a variety of Family support programs that can help you explore new styles of parenting, understand your child’s behaviour, and learn about child development. Our programs are facilitated by our Family Support Worker Melissa Helou (BA, MSocWk).
Parent programs include Circle of Security Parenting and PlaySteps.
Circle of Security Parenting:
Circle of Security is an 8 week program, which is based on attachment theory. This program supports parents to:
- Increase their sensitivity and responsiveness to their child’s signals
- Increase their ability for self-reflection on their own and their child’s behaviour, thoughts and feelings regarding their interactions
- Reflect on aspects of their own histories that may affect personal care-giving and attachment patterns
PlaySteps:
PlaySteps is a new program supporting parents and carers in developing their relationship with their baby through play, and learning some child development information while playing with your little one and meeting other parents.
Currently for parents/carers with children from infants up to 3-year-olds.
It is an 8 week program that feels like playgroup with educational elements.
Now being delivered at Studio Village Community Centre & Ormeau Centre.
