About Us

Palm Beach Currumbin Lions Club is part of Lions International which is the largest service club in the world today operating in over 209 countries with over 1.4 millions members.  Our club was chartered in 1957 and is one of the longest serving Lions Clubs on the Gold Coast.  Our members enjoy fellowship and dedicate part of our free time to help those in need in our community and over the world.  Our ideal is one of service as a group to our fellows without regard to politics, race or religion in any way the personal interests of ourselves.

The record of our club shows that over the years we have provided financial support and labout to scores of different projects, some very small and some very large.  Our first major project was the construction of 'Salk Oval' sports field in Palm Beach which is the first Australian Rules Football ground on the Gold Coast. The AFL football club based there has honoured us by calling themselves the 'Lions' and continue to wear our Lions Club colours.

Lions are citizens of legal majority who have a real and honest desire to work in the service of others.  The purpose of a Lions Club is more than good fellowship and club social life, important though these aspects may be.  It is a purpose in which to recognise community needs and to develop means to meeting them, either through club effort or in cooperation with other clubs.  Lions Clubs are an outstanding medium for Community, National and Worl Wide service.  In fact it is the only Service Club to have a permanent seat on the United Nations and the only Service Club granted the right to be established in the Repulic of China.

If you have a vision to see another's problem and the heart to car about it -  you could be a LION.
