Family Mental Health Support Service - Minds Alive Mackay
The Family Mental Health Support Service (Minds Alive) provides flexible and responsive early intervention to assist children and young people up to the age of 18 years of age who are at risk of or affected by mental illness, and their families.  This free program provides in home/outreach support to children and young people with school issues, life skills, relationships and social interactions, blended families as well as supporting with group activities, advocacy and health and wellbeing education including resilience and coping strategies. This is an outreach service which provides assistance to children and young people within the Mackay Regional Council areas. 

Post Separation Cooperative Parenting Program

This free program assists parents after separation by providing counselling, support, information, resources and an educational seminar.  The service is based in Mackay and outreach services for counselling can be arranged in Sarina, Proserpine/ Cannonvale, Bowen and Moranbah. (Whilst Covid 19 restrictions are in place, a phone counselling service will be offered, with clients being able to have face to face session if required at the Mackay office).

Choosing Change - A Men's Stopping Violence Program

This program offers men who have a history of domestic and family violence, the opportunity to take responsibility for their use of harmful behaviours. The program invites participants to engage in a process of change that facilitates their growth as respectful, safe and caring partners and fathers. It offers structured group sessions with participants, and aims to provide a holistic approach to addressing violence by men within the context of their relationship, their family and their community.

Volunteer Telephone Crisis Responder
Training courses are conducted throughout the year for people interested in becoming a volunteer telephone crisis responder.

Remote Area Family Services (RAFS)

RAFS is an early childhood program designed to support children and families in rural and remote and the Barkly Tablelands of the Northern Territory who live beyond the reach of mainstream services. Our service aims to support parents' needs in relation to the early childhood development and education of their children in rural, remote and isolated areas. The focus of the service is directed at all families with children aged birth to 5 years regardless of their cultural or religious background.

The early childhood program targets children aged from birth to five years.  RAFS playgroups are an excellent opportunity for families to come together and experience a wide variety of early learning activities.  Playgroup allows children to play in a relaxed, informal setting, where they can interact with other children, make choices, explore, share ideas and learn to work cooperatively and independently.

StandBy Support

StandBy - Support After Suicide is a community based service providing a 24/7 locally coordinated response to individuals and communities bereaved or impacted by suicide.  Phone this service directly on 0438 847 154
