About Us

We meet at 7.50am every Saturday for the pre-run briefing at the Coot Picnic Area, Albert Park, in the BBQ shed directly across the road from the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC). We then walk 300m to the Palms Lawn for the start. The course follows the iconic Albert Park Lake path anticlockwise, finishing back at the Coot Picnic Area. The boat shed at the southern end of the lake is halfway. See the map above. There are public toilets at the Coot Picnic Area and at the 4.5km mark. Water fountains are positioned about every kilometre around the course as well as at the Coot Picnic Area. Facilities Parking: Paid parking ($2.60, bring coins, no change available) is available in the Lakeside carpark. Toilets: There are public toilets beside the Coot Picnic area. Water: There is a water fountain in the Coot Picnic area and a cafe inside the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. Shower and change rooms: The Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre has showers and change rooms that can be accessed for the price of entry into the swimming pools. Getting There Location of startWe meet at the Coot Picnic Area at Albert Park (located opposite the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre). Getting there by public transportIt’s easy to get to Albert Melbourne parkrun by public transport. You can catch a single, direct tram from either the CBD or St Kilda. From the CBD: Take Tram #12 that is heading to St Kilda via Collins St. There are trams that depart Stop 6 (corner of Collins St and Swanston St) at 7.18 am and 7.37 am. The tram travels west along Collins St, heads south along Spencer St and then into Clarendon St. Get off the tram at Stop 130 (corner of Clarendon St and Albert Rd), walk across the road and head directly towards the lake, our meeting point is beside the lake, to the west of the carpark, see Map for details. Those two trams will arrive at either 7.32 am or 7.52 am. From St Kilda: Take Tram #96 towards Brunswick. There are trams that depart Stop 138 (Luna Park/The Esplanade) at 7.27 am and 7.39 am. Get off the tram at Stop 129 (Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre/Wright St). Head east towards Albert Park Lake and our meeting point is at the north-western end of the lake, see Map for details. Those two trams will arrive at either 7.37 am or 7.49 am. Albert Park is outside the Free Tram Zone so you will need to buy a Myki card, available at any 7-11 store, train station or at the airport. Getting there on footEnter Albert Park via any of the gates around the park and follow the path to our meeting point, see map. The gate on Albert Rd, opposite Clarendon St is the closest to the CBD. Getting there by roadEnter Albert Park from the gate on Albert Park Rd, opposite Clarendon St. Paid parking ($2.60, bring coins, no change available) is available in the Lakeside carpark. There is some free, on-street parking nearby, try Canterbury Road, Albert Road, Clarendon St and Moray St., a 5 - 10 minute walk from your car to our meeting point. Post Run Coffee Every week we grab a post parkrun coffee in the Daily Grind Café. This is located at 356 Clarendon Street, South Melbourne VIC 3205. On busy weeks, there is also the option of going to the Carousel Café beside the lake, close to the 1km mark - please come and join us!
