About Us

The Bullwinkel electorate is a newly created federal electoral division in Western Australia, established through a redistribution that took effect ahead of the most recent federal election. It covers a broad area extending from Perth’s outer-eastern suburbs into surrounding rural and regional communities. The electorate includes parts of the cities of Armadale, Gosnells, Kalamunda and Swan, as well as the Perth Hills and Avon Valley shires of Mundaring, York, Toodyay, Northam and Beverley. This creates a diverse landscape made up of growing suburban areas, semi-rural townships, agricultural land and bushland, reflecting the transition from metropolitan Perth to regional Western Australia. The electorate is named in honour of Vivian?Statham?Bullwinkel, an Australian military and civilian nurse remembered for her service during the Second World War and her lifelong commitment to nursing and community service. The choice of name recognises the broader contribution of military nurses and medical personnel, as well as those who endured imprisonment during wartime. Community life across Bullwinkel is shaped by its mixed urban and rural character, with local economies linked to agriculture, small business, services, and commuting connections to Perth. As a new electorate, its boundaries bring together communities with differing needs and shared interests, united by their position along Perth’s eastern growth corridor and the surrounding regional areas.
