About Us

If you are homeless, or are at risk of homelessness, please contact First Point on 1800 176 468. First Point is the gateway giving access to over 40 individual homelessness services. A phone call to First Point matches you with the help you need.

YWCA Housing Support Unit provides information and referral, supported transitional accommodation and outreach services to families with children or pregnant women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

YWCA Canberra has a long history in providing housing support to women and their families. We currently provide supported accommodation services on behalf of the ACT Government and are a registered community housing provider.

Our Housing Support Unit provides the following services:

  • Affordable housing – providing affordable housing for older women in the Canberra community
  • Transitional housing – providing supported accommodation for women and their families who are at risk of homelessness
  • Outreach – prevention of homelessness through outreach services
  • Supportive Tenancy Service – working with ACT residents whose housing is at risk, to maintain a safe and stable home.
