About Us

Child at Risk Health Unit

Assist with health related concerns about children/young people suspected of being abused. Provide telephone advice and support, and where appropriate invite parents/carers to CARHU for a concerns interview. If required clients may then be referred to a health professional within CARHU or to another agency. Health and other professionals may consult with CARHU however the consulting does not remove the professional’s mandatory responsibility to report suspected non-accidental injury or sexual abuse of children and young people to Care and Protection Services. Please refer to the ACT Health Policy on Child Protection.

Referral: Written referral required from all health professionals, medical care, protection, police or other professionals where clinical service is requested. Referral forms are provided.
