About Us

Canberra Girls Grammar School (CGGS) is an independent non-selective Anglican school with an enrolment of approximately 1,600 students.

Spread over two campuses, the School is co-educational from Early Learning to Year 2 and girls only from Years 3 to 12. Boarding facilities are available for girls in Years 7 to 12.

Canberra Girls Grammar School is an engaging and supportive learning environment with a curriculum that reaches well beyond the classroom. Students are offered a physically and intellectually inspiring education which allows them to reach their full potential.

In Years 7 to 10, all students are prepared for the ACT Year 10 High School Certificate under the auspices of the Department of Education.

Year 11 and 12 students at CGGS study courses accredited by the ACT Board of Senior Secondary Studies (BSSS). Students may be issued the following qualifications and statements:

  • ACT Senior Secondary Certificate and Record of Achievement.
  • Tertiary Entrance Statement.
  • Statement of Achievement.

Further information about these qualifications can be found on the BSSS website ACT Qualifications and Statements.

The ACT Senior Secondary system caters for students in Years 11 and 12, generally aged between 16 and 19 years of age. It is based on the principle of continuous assessment throughout Years 11 and 12 and governed by the policies and procedures of the BSSS.

Students generally study five subjects in both years. English is compulsory in Years 11 and 12, while Mathematics is compulsory in Year 11 only.
