About Us
The Mill House Social Enterprise Accelerator is a three-month, capacity building program designed to accelerate the business growth and impact of not-for-profit and for-profit social ventures.
We are interested in social ventures that intend to grow quickly through the acquisition of new customers in new or existing markets rather than an increase in donations or Government funding. As examples, social impact investors are looking for ventures that:
- Innovate in the areas of disability services to complement the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
- Support food entreprenuers, local growers, distributors and value-add products that build the local food economy; provide access to healthy foods for underserved communities.
- Provide access to affordable healthcare services, including rural and remote aged care, chronic disease management; disease prevention and mental health.
- Improve educational outcomes for underserved populations at all ages, but particularly in early childhood.
The Mill House supports both ‘for-profit’ and ‘not-for-profit’ social ventures; enabling them to work side-by-side challenging, collaborating, and supporting each other in their mutual aims of sustainable and scalable social change.
Our mission is to grow a high-quality pipeline of investible and scalable social ventures in the ACT and Region for corporate, foundation and individual social impact investors.
The Mill House consists of two venture streams: REFINE and GRIST
GRIST is for entrepreneurs, small business owners and community organisations that are considering trading for impact to reduce their reliance on grants and philanthropy.
REFINE cohort are ventures that are ready to scale a validated product or service business model. REFINE participants are both not-for-profit and for-profit ventures who are selected to participate by our social impact investors.
