Youth Housing and Reintegration Service (YHaRS)

The YHaRS service in Toowoomba and Hervey Bay and Maryborough aims to help to reduce homelessness through the provision of case management support, brokerage and support to access and apply for accommodation for young people aged 12 - 21 who are:

  • exiting or transitioning from Child Safety orders; or
  • transitioning from a period of sentence or remand in Youth Detention Centres; and/or
  • have been 'sleeping rough' or living in unstable, temporary or inadequate housing.

 

YHaRS After Care is for young people aged 17 to 21 who are leaving, or have recently left the care of Child Safety Services, and are homeless or at risk of being homeless. After Care can provide support to access case management support and financial help toward certain items that help to reduce the risk of homelessness.

The Young Centre-  Supports young people aged 12 to 25 years, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, to obtain long-term stable accommodation and develop the knowledge and skills required for independent and successful community living.  Through the Young Centre, young people may access:• Night Café • Emergency Accommodation (in the near future)• Supported Accommodation • Intensive engagement and support

• Life Skills, including education, employment and linkages to Red Cross College
