About Us

Respite Care ServiceEngedi House Guests call it their home away from home. We endeavour to ensure that a visit to Engedi  provides House Guests with respite in a homelike environment that is welcoming and comfortable. Engedi's respite care service provides supports that  enhance the ability of the family to continue in their role of  primary care provider for a person with a disability, and to sustain the total family unit and/or caring relationship. To be eligible for respite support the person must have a disability as defined under the Disability Services Act (2006) and be aged between 6months and 65 years and have an identified carer.  The majority of the respite care is provided at a typical house, known as Engedi, situated in a local suburban street. Engedi has a homelike environment for up to four guests at a time, and provides a timely respite service enabling people with   disabilities to have a positive  experience in a safe, private setting, whilst their families have a break or are dealing with other important aspects of their lives.Engedi caters for up to four people with disabilities at a time. Staff members are on duty at any given time, around the clock, for around fifty weeks of the year. If a person's support needs are known to be greater, or they are unable to be accommodated at Engedi alternative respite support may be arranged.   This may include in home respite support or support at an alternative venue.

Supported Accommodation
Engedi provides 24 hour support to compatible individuals who have received individualized funding through Disability Services Queensland in their own home environment and the community.
