Community & Neighbourhood Centres
About Us
The North Shore Community Centre began as a shared vision by the Community and Progress Associations within the North Shore Area who were concerned about the lack of a central meeting place for the people within our community to connect.
In 2010, with majority of funding from the Federal Government as well as help from our local council, our environmentally sustainable centre began, with our official opening on September 10th 2011.
Our centre is currently run by a dedicated team of local North Shore residents who have given and continue to give generously of their time to get this centre up and running and ensure its success from Day 1 of opening. We are also fully supported by the Sunshine Coast Regional Council who continue to guide and mentor our management committee in any areas that we require assistance in the initial stages.
The Management Committee envisions that the NSCC will help form support networks for all members of the local community. It aims to be a prominent focal point by offering an inviting place for gatherings and community events and services, such as fundraising events, performances (drama, concerts), exhibitions, presentation nights, workshops, educational classes, health and wellbeing services, play-group activities, youth and senior citizens’ programs and support Not for Profit Organisations.
The Management Committee with the help of a the Sunshine Coast Council Community Partnership Funding Program employs a part time coordinator to oversee and manage the operational functions of the organisation, including volunteer and staff supervision, program development and funding, business and strategic development and service provision.
