About Us
Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander women, children, mothers, and babies. The Maternal and Child Health team’s role is to support the health of women, babies and children through midwifery support, health advice throughout pregnancy and beyond, child health checks, vaccinations and immunisations, ear health and family planning.
Services include:
- Women’s health information, screening, assessment, and treatments
- Child and Adult Health Checks and care planning
- Antenatal care (Antenatal services are provided by a multi-disciplinary team including Doctors, Indigenous Health Practitioners, Child Health Nurses and a Midwife)
- Midwifery service (provided by a Qld Health Midwife Tuesday and Thursday by appointment only)
- Pregnancy nutrition advice
- Birthing information
- Breastfeeding advice
- Parenting support and guidance (partners are also encouraged to participate in their child’s health care appointments)
- Visiting Specialist Paediatrician by appointment only (feel welcome to ask your Doctor for a referral to the Paediatrician)
Note:
- All parents are encouraged to bring their Child Health Record Book and their Medicare Card with them to each visit.
- Pregnant women are encouraged to bring their pregnancy hand held record with them to each visit.
