The Lodge – Residential Service For Men

The CatholicCare Lodge Program supports men who have mental illness, with or without alcohol & drug issues and whose age is between 18 and 65 . It is based on the grounds of Ainslie Village with the capacity to accommodate up to 19 residents.

The Lodge Program has two components: medium to long term (15 beds) and the respite program (4 beds). The Lodge staff hours are from 8am – 8pm on a daily basis including weekends and Public Holidays. The Lodge Program provides all meals, including coffee and tea. Medication management is provided wherever required. On call phone support covers period from 5pm until 8am on a daily basis.

The Medium to long term Lodge Program supports men who are currently not able to live independently in the community and need assistance in the development of life skills such as: budgeting, health, nutrition, cleaning etc.

Both the long term and respite program assist men to participate in social and recreational activities, maintaining contact with family, friends and significant others. Lodge Program staff will facilitate developing links with health, welfare and other services. The Lodge residents will be supported in obtaining suitable housing, advocating and medication management.

The Lodge Program long term residents will pay a fee for their accommodation, utilities and meals provided by the program.

To be eligible to apply for the program a person will:

  • Have experience of Mental Illness and are with or without alcohol & drug issues
  • Be over 18 years old
  • Reside in the ACT
  • Be willing to work in partnership with the Lodge staff
  • Be determined to refrain for being under the influence of alcohol or drugs while staying at the Lodge.
