About Us
Sisters Inside Inc. is a community organisation which aims to reduce the number of women and girls in prison, and reduce recidivism amongst former prisoners. Criminalisation of mothers often has multigenerational effects – for example, the children of women prisoners are 5 times more likely to be criminalised as adults than children in the general population. They are also more likely to experience other disadvantages such as homelessness; domestic and family violence; involvement in the child protection system; substance abuse and mental health issues; social isolation and marginalisation; and poverty. Sisters Inside therefore focuses on provision of early intervention and prevention services to criminalised women and their children.
We offer a variety of Programs and services including Sexual assault Counselling & Support, Children and Mothers Support, transportation to the the prison Playgroups, Foodparcels, Youth Support Workers, Young Indigesnous Art Group and Mothers & Childrens Camps. Please see our website at www.sistersinside.com.au for additional information.
